Maulbronn Monastery Baumgarten Monastery Herrenalb

The monastery Neubourg ( Neuburg, Novum Castrum ) was a former Cistercian monastery in Alsace in France. It was in today's département Bas -Rhin ( Lower Rhine ) in the municipality Dauendorf, 9 km west of Haguenau ( Haguenau ).

History

Kloster Neuburg was not founded before 1130 but not after 1133 by Count Reinhold von Lützelburg ( Renaud de Lutzelbourg ) as the daughter of the monastery Luetzel ( Lucelle ), a subsidiary of Abbey Bellevaux from the filiation of primary Abbey Mori Moon, and populated by Luetzel. Neuburg was the mother monastery of Maulbronn Monastery Baumgarten and monastery Herrenalb. From the 14th to the 17th century, the monastery was destroyed several times, but was rebuilt. In the French Revolution, it was in 1790 to an end.

Buildings, plant, equipment

The church was consecrated in 1158. It was renewed in 1758, but resigned as the entire monastery complex in 1818. Get 're a baroque portal of 1744, a mill and parts of the monastery wall. The Rococo interiors made ​​of wood are now in the church of St. Nicholas in Haguenau ( choir, organ case, pulpit, statues, sculptures ) and the Musée historique same city ( door leaf ). The "Bee Well" in front of the church of St. George is also from the monastery Neubourg.
