Neuzeller Kloster Brewery

The monastery Neuzelle GmbH is a brewery in Neuzelle. In its roots it goes back to the brewery, founded in 1589 the monastery Neuzelle. Are mainly produced lager specialties such as the Schwarzbräu "Black Abbot ," Porter and fruit beers.

History

The history of the monastery brewery dates back to the year 1416. In the records of the monastery is noted that the farmers had to pay an annual measure seven hops as peasant interest payment to the monastery. This is a proof that was brewed at this early stage in Neuzelle beer with hops. However, approval for commercial beer brewing received Neuzeller monks until 1589, when Emperor Rudolf II allowed the sale of its beer into the surrounding countryside. 1817, the secularization of the monastery and brewery took place. The brewery burned down in a severe fire in 1892 and was rebuilt in 1902. The monastery brewery in 1948 expropriated and nationalized. In 1968 the company name was changed in Neuzelle. After the fall of the brewery got back its original name and was privatized in 1992 as a monastery Neuzelle GmbH. In the following years there was a dispute about the " Black Abbot " because it does not correspond to the purity law, to enable also fermented beers with sugar.

Specialties

According to the brewery is "The Black Abbot ' brewed according to a recipe for over 400 years, which also contains sugar. It is precisely this formulation has led to the Brandenburg beer war, which has helped the "Black Abbot " to a worldwide fame. The legal dispute over the admissibility of the label beer between the state government of Brandenburg and the brewery was after 13 years of dispute decided by a judgment of the Federal Administrative Court in favor of the brewery.

Was launched in 1996 along with the Landhotel Hof Kummerow the "original beer bath ", which was marketed as the first beer spa world. 2004 was the first beer for body, mind and soul on the market - " Anti Aging Beer ". Other varieties in the range of the brewery are " gluten -free beer ", " beer Probiotic " vitalizing cultures, cherry beer, apple beer, which is also available in the non-alcoholic variant and many other specialties. Thanks to a new, self- developed process, the monastery brewery can produce beers with 0.0% alcohol.
