Neves-Stausee

The Neves Reservoir is located in the Zillertal Alps at the upper end of the valley of the Mühlwaldertals at Lappach. He is surrounded by the mountains High Weißzint ( 3371 m), Large Möseler ( 3479 m) and Turner Kamp ( 3418 m). Before Einstauung the head of the valley formed a long, flat pastureland. The dam ( Type: Arch dam ) was built from 1960 to 1964; the crown height is 94 m and the water level is about 1860 m.

The dam can be reached starting from Oberlappach on a toll road. The small toll station is located in the township behind the lone double bend. The road is extremely narrow and up to 22 % with steep narrow and hardly manageable curves. The difference in altitude is 1004 m. It should be especially careful because of rockfall danger. On the lake there is a large number of parking spaces. The dam can be committed from May to October from 7:00 clock to 20:00 clock. Around the lake is a walking path.
