New Partnership for Africa's Development

The New Partnership for Africa's Development NEPAD or (New Partnership for Africa's Development ) is an economic development program of the African Union based in Midrand in South Africa. NEPAD was adopted in July 2001 at the 37th meeting of Heads of State and Government in Lusaka ( Zambia). Task of NEPAD is to develop values ​​and to monitor their implementation within the framework of the African Union.

NEPAD is a merger of the Millennium Partnership for the African Recovery Programme (MAP) and the OMEGA Plan for Africa. The merger was achieved on 3 July 2001. The merger of the New Africa Initiative ( "New African Initiative " German NAI) was established. The Heads of State and Government of the Organization of African Unity (OAU ) confirmed NAI on 11 July 2001, the Heads of State and Government of the G8 confirmed the plan on July 20, 2001 The "Heads of State Implementation Committee " ( HSIC; German. .: " implementation Committee of Heads of State " ) completed the policy framework on 23 October 2001 and NEPAD was formed.

Since 2010, the former Nigerien Prime Minister Ibrahim Hassane Mayaki is the CEO of NEPAD.
