New River (Belize)

The New River is a river in Northern Belize. He has partly the character of an inland lagoon.

It is located mostly in the Orange Walk District belizensischen, flows north through the main town, Orange Walk Town and ends in the Corozal district in the Bay of Corozal.

The river is of particular tourist interest because the Mayan ruins of Lamanai are on its western shore and can reach the ruins by boat from Orange Walk Town on the New River. The river is the habitat of crocodiles.
