Newcastle Jesters

The Newcastle Jesters were an ice hockey club in the city of Newcastle upon Tyne in England. The Jesters played from 1996 to 2001 in the British Ice Hockey Superleague. Their home games they carried out in the 4,500 -seat Telewest Arena.

History

The team was founded for the 1996/97 season under the name Newcastle Cobras as a member of the inaugural Ice Hockey Super League. In this the team was not very successful and took over the five years of its existence, each one of the last places in the league. From 1998 to 2000 the team played under the name Newcastle RiverKings before she finished her last season, the 2000/01 season as Newcastle Jesters.

The gap left by the team in the city, was filled by the Newcastle Vipers, the aufliefen until its dissolution in 2011 in the Ice Hockey Super League and later the next competition Elite Ice Hockey League.
