News ticker

A crawls (English crawl ) is the horizontal display a text in the television picture as a ticker. In contrast, rolling tracks run vertically through the image.

It is often used in news channels to integrate the latest news in the ongoing program. Also Broadcast on TV shows are often presented as crawls. Other uses are stock prices or own commercials for subsequent shipments, phone numbers for actions or references to program changes.

The crawls is inserted with a character generator in the image, usually at the bottom of the screen.
