Ney Matogrosso

Ney de Sousa Pereira, known as Ney Matogrosso ( born August 1, 1941 in Bela Vista, Mato Grosso do Sul ) is a Brazilian singer who is equipped with a soprano and counter-tenor voice.

Life

Matogrosso joined at the age of 17 years in the Brazilian Air Force and was transferred to Brasília. Even at this time Matogrosso began to sing in a quartet, and performed at festivals throughout Brazil. Hoping to become an actor, he was commissioned in 1966 to Rio de Janeiro, where he sold art objects. In 1971 he went to São Paulo, adopted the stage name Ney Matogrosso and has performed with the Glamrockgruppe Secos & Molhados. Within a few months he gained great popularity and sold more than a million records. After that he went on a solo career and became so great notoriety. They gave him several Golden and Platinum records.

He was also known for his outfit with colorful glittering costumes, makeup and his female movements on stage. Ney Matogrosso was always a contradictory character. One of his biggest hits was the song " Homem com H" ( Antônio Barros ).

1986 Matogrosso made ​​her first appearance without his fantasy costumes. Since then, he focused more on his work as a singer, interpreting traditional music of the Música Popular Brasileira. For the first time this kind of music appeared on his album " O Pescador de Perolas " (1986), where he led the song " O Mundo É to Moinho " ( Cartola ), "Dora" ( Dorival Caymmi ), "Da Cor do Pecado " ( Bororo ) and " Aquarela do Brasil " by ( Ary Barroso ) interpreted.

Ney went with guitarist Raphael Rabello on tour, with which he in 1990 the album "À Flor da Pele " recorded. In 1996 he recorded the album Chico Buarque ( " To Brasileiro " ) with music by Chico Buarque on. This he achieved great success.

In 2008 he released his album " Inclassificáveis ​​" in which he turned to the topic of aging. He himself was at that time already 68 years old and thus reflected also a part of his life. In 2009, he took his time being last plate " Beijo Bandido " on the market, which also appeared in a live version in 2011.
