NGC 1277

NGC 1277 is a lenticular galaxy in the constellation Perseus. She is a member of the Perseus cluster of galaxies and about 220 million light-years from the Milky Way.

The black hole in the center of NGC 1277 is one of the most massive, yet discovered. It contains about 14% of the mass of the galaxy, or about 17 billion solar masses. However, it is not clear why the black hole has so much mass, since it would have a much larger galaxy to inquire about current models.

2013 Another phenomenon of NGC 1277, a study by Ignacio Trujillo and colleagues. Thus, all the stars of this galaxy have emerged as a high age of more than 10 billion years ago and are in a period of a few million years.
