NGC 2175

NGC 2175 is the name of an open cluster with gas clouds in the northeastern region of the constellation Orion. NGC 2175 has an angular diameter of 18 arc minutes and a brightness of 6.80 mag. NGC 2175 has probably been observed by Giovanni Battista Hodierna before 1654, however, this is not backed up. Therefore, the German astronomer Karl Christian Bruhns regarded as explorers who observed the object in 1857.
