NGC 3314

NGC 3314 consists of two galaxies in the constellation Hydra, which happen to stand in the same direction. While the front galaxy ( NGC 3314A ) about 117 million light- years away from Earth, the distance to the rear (NGC 3314B ) is about 140 million light years. NGC 3314 has an apparent magnitude of 13.5 (B- band ) and 12.8 mag ( visual) and an angular extent of 0.4 '× 0.2 ', respectively. 1.5 '× 0.5 '.

The galaxy was discovered on 24 March 1835 by the British astronomer John Herschel.
