NGC 371

NGC 371 is an open cluster in an emission nebula ( HII region ) in which about 200,000 light- years away in the small Magellanic Cloud. NGC 371 is found in the constellation Tucana.

NGC 371 was discovered on August 1, 1826 by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop. The stars of the open cluster arise from the glowing hydrogen gas of the HII region This cluster has an unusual number of variable stars, among others slowly pulsating B stars ( LPS).
