NGC 6822

Barnard's Galaxy (also known as NGC 6822 and IC 4895 ) is a 8.7 likes bright dwarf elliptical galaxy with a surface area of 15.5 '× 13.5 ' in the constellation Sagittarius. The name of this object derives from its discoverer Edward Emerson Barnard, who found the galaxy on August 17, 1884. The galaxy is a member of the Local Group and has a distance of about 1.6 million light years.

Although Barnard's Galaxy of the 50 brightest galaxies in the sky counts, it is difficult to be observed due to their low surface brightness and southern right position in Central Europe.
