NGC 7793

NGC 7793 is a galaxy in the constellation Sculptor. NGC 7793 has an angular extent of 9.3 '× 6.3 ' and an apparent brightness of 9.0 mag. She was discovered on July 14, 1826 by the Scottish astronomer James Dunlop.

Microquasar

A group of European researchers has discovered with the help of the telescopes of the European Southern Observatory's a microquasar in one of the spiral arms of NGC 7793, which is noticeable, driven by particularly violent Materieausstöße. The black hole, which forms the center of the microquasar, not only large amounts of matter takes on, but accelerates and pushes them out in the form of jets. A gas bubble with about 1,000 light- years in diameter expands with almost 0.1 percent the speed of light.
