Ngoma, Zambia

Ngoma is a town in the south of the Kafue National Park in the Central Province of Zambia. It is located south of the village Itezhi Tezhi.

Ngoma is a gamekeeper settlement of the Zambian Wildlife Authority ( ZAWA ). 200 rangers live here with their families. There is a small information center for local wildlife and a primary school.

Ngoma Lodge was closed several years ago after poachers had almost exterminated the animal population. Today, the animal population is less stable. The work of the rangers is showing fruit. Meanwhile, one sees occasional large Impalaherden, bushbuck and common elephants. Also leopards sneak night at the village. The other animals of the park rarely get to this area.

In addition to the Ngoma Bach Nkala, the falls completely dry in the dry season, however, occurs widely in the rainy season on the shore and flooded the plain between the approximately hundred meters higher hills Nakalombwe, Nkala and "Chickens Cry" flows. Then there crocodiles live. For hippos the water is not deep enough.

Ngoma is connected to the mains, but not all homes have electricity. Electricity is mainly used for the water pump that secures the supply of drinking water from a well. In the south of the village is a small airfield.
