Grandmaster Nguyen Lộc ( born May 24, 1912 village Huu Bang in the district Thach That in Hanoi, formerly the province of Son Tay, North Vietnam, † April 29, 1960 ) is the founder of the Vietnamese martial art Vovinam Viet Vo Dao.

Childhood

Lộc Nguyen was born as the eldest of five children. His parents Dinh Xuyen Nguyen Thi Hoa and Nguyen moved often, partly due to the occupation of Vietnam by the French. They eventually settled in the vicinity of Ha Noi. His childhood was difficult.

Development of Vovinam

As Lộc Nguyễn was old enough, his father asked an old master of the martial arts Lộc Nguyễn to teach in the traditional martial arts and wrestling. This should also improve their health in addition to the self-defense skills.

In the following years he studied the traditional martial arts, wrestling, Far Eastern philosophies.
