Life

Nicholas II was the only son of Otto VI. born of Tecklenburg and Adelheid of Lippe, daughter of the noble Lord V. Bernhard of Lippe.

Nicholas II led many similar feuds as his father Otto VI. 1388 he succeeded him as Count of Tecklenburg. In his feuds he claimed dominion Rheda against lip and kicked in return from lippische areas. 1400 joined together the bishops of Münster and Osnabrück and fought against Nicholas II This lost all northern areas as Cloppenburg, Vechta, Friesoythe and Bevergern to the Bishop Otto of Munster. In the lower county Lingen he lost half of parish Plantlünne and Schapen and cede to the east, the Stader and Spellerwald. The County of Tecklenburg stretched from now on only about the old district of Tecklenburg -Lingen, ie via Ibbenbueren, Iburg, Lengerich, Ladbergen and other places. The county was now encircled by the two dioceses.

Other feuds wore Nicholas with the bishops of Münster and Osnabrück, and the Count of Hoya. He also assisted his cousin Nicholas, who was archbishop of Bremen, against Ostfriesland. In 1426 they lost the battle of Detern.

Nicholas II married Elizabeth (Anna ) of Moers († 1430), daughter of Count Friedrich III. of Moers. From this marriage came
