Nick van der Velden (2011)

Nick van der Velden ( born December 16, 1981 in Amsterdam) is a Dutch footballer who plays for FC Groningen in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Playing career

Nick van der Velden started his career as a professional footballer in 2003 when the Dutch first division club RKC Waalwijk. However, in his first two seasons in the Eredivisie he came only on 13 missions. He was then awarded to the second division to the FC Dordrecht 2005. In the season 2006/ 07, however, van der Velden had again a difficult position in Waalwijk, so that the attacking midfielder moving to the winter break firmly Dordrecht.

After a strong season van was obliged by top Dutch club AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2008, Velden. In his first season at AZ he came under coach Louis van Gaal 20 times used and contributed to the fact that his team was able to celebrate the championship. In the following two years he played in Alkmaar but less and less so that he in the summer of 2011, despite an ongoing contract for Premier League rivals NEC moved to Nijmegen. After two years in Gelderland, he moved on to FC Groningen.
