Nickel Creek

Nickel Creek is an Americana trio from San Diego with roots in bluegrass, which was attributed to the progressive bluegrass in the tension between folk music and country music.

The band consists of Chris Thile (mandolin, mandola, vocals, banjo), Sara Watkins (violin, vocals) and her brother Sean Watkins ( guitar, piano, background vocals). The group was founded in 1989, played with Scott Thile, father of Chris, the bass after the Wakins and Thile at a concert of the band Bluegrass Etc.. had met. The band decided in late 2007 after their tour to suspend their common musical project indefinitely. Chris Thile and Sara Watkins devoted themselves to solo projects, Sean Watkins teamed up with Jon Foreman, the lead singer of the band Switchfoot the group Fiction Family. Early 2014 Nickel Creek announced on its website the reunion of the band. In New York, the musicians took on ten new songs that were released on 1 April 2014 the album " A Dotted Line ".
