Life

His first art lessons got Galimard by his uncles, the history painter Nicolas- Auguste Hesse and his brother, the portrait painter Henri Joseph Hesse. Later he changed then - also as a student - in the studio of Jean -Auguste -Dominique Ingres. Already at the age of 18 could Galimard 1831 at the Great Exhibition of the Paris Salon with two paintings successful debut; " The Holy Women at the grave " and " Castle woman of the 16th century". Between 1835 and 1880, were to be seen in almost all the exhibitions of the Paris Salon works of Galimard. Napoleon III. acquired this work and presented it to King William I of Württemberg.
