Nicolas Bal
Nicolas Bal ( born June 2, 1978 in Saint -Martin- d'Hères ) is a former French Nordic combined.
Bal, who has been running its twelfth year Nordic skiing, announced in 1996 his international debut at the Junior World Championships in Asiago. He won the silver medal with the team in the team competition. On March 16, 1996, he was in Oslo his debut in the World Cup Nordic Combined. He finished sixth in the Gundersen immediately. At the Junior World Cup in 1997 in Canmore, he won the gold medal with the team. After two more good World Cup results in March 1997 and January 1998, he was part of the squad for the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano. There he succeeded in the individual competition of the seventh place. Together with Sylvain Guillaume, Fabrice Guy and Ludovic Roux, he won the bronze medal in the team competition. A year later, Bal missed at the Nordic World Ski Championships 1999 in Ramsau am Dachstein in Gundersen as well as with the team each with fourth place a medal just barely. In the sprint he finished eleventh. After another good World Cup results, he ended the 1998/99 season as the most successful of his career at the 20th place in the overall World Cup standings. After falling more services in the following years he started in 2001 in the meantime in B- World Cup, but could subsequently re- place in the World Cup squad. At the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City he reached the 6th place with the team. In some of the normal hill Bal reached number ten on the large hill ranked 18th in the season 2002/ 03 Bal could once again regain its old achievements and reached in the Sprint World Cup overall standings to 21th Place. From there, he still regularly get placements in the points, but he could not reach his old performances. At the Olympic Winter Games in Turin in 2006, he landed in collaboration with François Braud, Ludovic Roux and Jason Lamy Chappuis in the team competition in fifth place. In the sprint Bal reached number 27 in the space 31 Gundersen After another season Bal ended his active career in 2007.
