Nicolas Coldstream

John Nicolas Coldstream (* March 30, 1927, † 21 March 2008) was a British archaeologist Classic.

John Coldstream studied Classics at Eton College and at King's College, Cambridge. After the Second World War he worked among others in the Department of Greek and Roman Antiquities of the British Museum, before turning to an academic career. From 1960 to 1983 he was Professor of Aegean Archaeology at Bedford College, then at University College London Yates Professor of Classical Art and Archaeology. His most significant excavations led by Coldstream in Kythera and at Knossos and provided detailed reports on the Minoan pottery found there.
