Nicolaus Schuback

Nicolaus Schuback ( born February 18, 1700 in York, † July 28, 1783 in Hamburg ) was a Hamburg lawyer and in the period from 29 October 1754 to the August 28, 1782 also mayor of the city of Hamburg.

Life

After schooling Schuback began in 1720 to study law at the University of Jena, which he successfully completed in 1725, finally at the University of Giessen. Then he went back to Hamburg, where he worked as a lawyer before he was elected senator in 1737.

After his death, the family moved to his memory characterize a mayor Pfennig ( Schu back- pounds) and distributed to the mourners. The coin depicts on the front of the helmeted family coat of arms, on the back of a grave stone with a grieving Genius, on the one hand holding an anchor.

In Hamburg's Eppendorf district is a small street named after him.
