The Nied ( in the upper and middle reaches: Nied Française, dt: French Nied ) is a river that runs across borders in the French region of Lorraine and German ( Saarland).
Geography
Course
It rises in the municipality of Marthille, in Moselle, and dehydrated under the name Nied Française initially in general northwesterly direction. East of Metz, she turns to the northeast and reaches the place Condé -Northen (German: condensation ), where the right of its sister river Nied Allemande (German: German Nied ) opens. From here it changes its name to Nied and exceeds by a length of 97 kilometers between Guerstling and Niedaltdorf the border between France and Germany. After another 17 kilometers on German territory it opens after a total length of 114 kilometers in the municipality of Rehlingen- Siersburg as a left tributary of the Saar.
