Nihad Awad

Nihad Awad (Arabic نهاد عوض; born 1964 in Amman New Camp, a Palestinian refugee camp in Amman, Jordan) is a personality of Islam and a politician in the United States. He is the National Executive Director and co-founder of the Council on American - Islamic Relations ( CAIR ) in the United States of America.

He studied civil engineering at the University of Minnesota and then worked at the University of Minnesota Medical Center.

He was one of the 138 signatories of the open letter A Common Word between Us and You (English A Common Word Between Us and You), the personalities of Islam to "leaders of Christian churches everywhere" (English " Leaders of Christian Churches, everywhere ... " ) submitted (13 October 2007).

In 2009 he was listed in the list of 500 most influential Muslims of the Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal Center for Muslim- Christian Understanding at Georgetown University and the Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre of Jordan.
