Niigata Transys

Niigata Transys K. K. (Japanese新潟 トランシス 株式会社, Niigata Toranshisu Kabushiki - gaisha ) is a Japanese company that manufactures rail vehicles and snow plows.

History

Niigata Transys was established in 2003 after its predecessor company, KK Niigata Tekkosho (株式会社 新泻 铁工 所) was forced to declare bankruptcy in 2002. The conglomerate IHI, who had simultaneously acquired the rail vehicle division of Fuji Heavy Industries, the ailing company acquired 70% and set it as a new Niigata Transys. The workforce has been fully integrated into the new company. On 1 September 2006 IHI acquired the remaining 30 % of shares.

While the corporate headquarters is located in Tokyo, is produced in Niigata Prefecture. Consequently, the new company continues to bear the name of the production site.

Niigata Transys specializes in the production of different types of railway vehicles. The products include:

Tramway vehicles

Niigata Transys produced tram vehicles for the Japanese market. The vehicles offered were initially licensed by Adtranz and then Bombardier Transportation. Thus, for the cities of Kumamoto, Okayama, Takaoka, Toyama and Kumamoto vehicles of type GT4N / K were produced. Newer vehicles have also been developed on the basis of Bombardier trams and were modified for the japanisichen market. The current product range tram vehicles includes:

  • 0800, two -part low-floor articulated tram
  • 9200 MOMO, two -part low-floor articulated tram
