Niki Karimi

Niki Karimi (Persian نیکی کریمی; born November 10, 1971 in Tehran ) is an Iranian actress and director.

Life

Niki Karimi grew up in her hometown of Tehran. Even in their early school years, she participated in theater offer. The famous Iranian actor Jamshid Gorgin became aware of her talent during a performance of the school theater. In 1989, she starred in The Temptation ( The Temptation ) her first role in a feature film. 1990 and 1992 was followed by other roles in Aroos ( The Bride) and Sara. After the production of Sara, she went to study design in the United States. However, they returned to take over in 1993 back to Iran to play a role in the movie Pari.

As an actress, Karimi received several awards in Iran. Internationally, she became famous. She was a member of the jury of the International Film Festival of Locarno, the International Film Festival of Thessaloniki, the Berlin Film Festival and the 60th International Film Festival of Cannes.

In 2001, she presented with a documentary about infertility, entitled To have or not to have ( have or do not have ) wore her directorial debut. For the film, she received an award in Tehran. In 2005, she led the first time in a feature film director. The drama One Night ( One Night ) was shown at 58 film festivals worldwide.

Besides her work as an actress and director Niki Karimi is known as a translator of English texts into Persian.
