Nikolai Zverev

Nikolai Sergeyevich Zverev (Russian Николай Сергеевич Зверев; * 1832 at Volokolamsk, .. † 30 Septemberjul / October 12 1893greg in Moscow) was a Russian pianist and pedagogue.

Zverev first studied at Moscow University Physics and Mathematics, at the same time, he met privately piano with Alexandre Dubuque. He interrupted his studies early and moved to St. Petersburg, where he entered the government service and also honed his piano with Adolf Henselt. On subpoena Dubuques 1867 he came to Moscow, where he met Nikolai Grigoryevich Rubinstein and Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky.

Soon Zverev himself began to teach piano, first privately, and in 1870 he opened a music board, which quickly the best reputation enjoyed. In his retirement lived young pianists, such as Alexander Ilyich Siloti, Sergei Vasilievich Rachmaninoff, Konstantin Nikolayevich Igumnov.

To Swerews students also Alexander Nikolayevich Scriabin was one. The less well-off students helped Zverev financially. At the suggestion of Anton Grigoryevich Rubinstein Sveryev taught since 1870 at the Moscow Conservatory in 1883 professor.

The inhabitants of the board were required to practice at least six hours a day. Famous musicians visited the inn, inter alia, Sergei Ivanovich Taneyev, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Anton Stepanovich Arensky, Anton Grigoryevich Rubinstein and Vasily Ilyich Safonov.
