Nikolay Krestinsky

Nikolai Nikolayevich Krestinski (Russian Николай Николаевич Крестинский, born 13 Oktoberjul / October 25 1883greg in Mogilev, Russia, .. † March 15, 1938 in Moscow) was a Russian revolutionary and politician.

Life

Rise to Power

The lawyer and journalist Krestinski was one of the early leading revolutionaries against Tsarist Russia. As early as 1903 he became a member of the Social Democratic Workers' Party of Russia ( RSDLP ). In 1917 he was chairman of a district party committee of Yekaterinburg ( Urals ). On the secret VI. Congress ( 26 July-3 August 1917) of the RSDLP - later Communist Party of the Soviet Union - he was elected to the 21 -member Central Committee of the Party. It was at this time one of the most important confidant of Lenin. During the revolutionary transition from the October 10, 1917 to 18 February 1919, he was secretary of the Central Committee and the Organizational Bureau of the party. He was in the now 5 -member Politburo of the party by the Eighth Party Congress on February 18, 1919 - consisting of Lenin, Kamenev, Trotsky, and Stalin Krestinski - elected. From 1920 to 1921, he eventually served as " Responsible Secretary ", the Secretariat of the Central Committee.

Increasing power loss

Rehabilitation

In 1956 he was in the context of de-Stalinization in the secret speech of Nikita Khrushchev at the XX. Congress of the CPSU partially and then fully rehabilitated in the period of perestroika by Mikhail Gorbachev in 1986.
