Niwano Peace Prize
The Niwano Peace Prize is a prize of 170,000 Euros converted award, which is awarded annually by a seven-member committee consisting of Buddhists, Christians and Muslims.
Initiator of the Niwano Peace Foundation, headquartered in Tokyo, the Japanese Nikkyo Niwano, founder of the Buddhist lay movement Rissho Kosei - Kai. Nikkyo Niwano was one of the few non-Christian observers at the Second Vatican Council. His son Nichiko Niwano is his successor as president of the movement that is committed to interreligious dialogue.
