Gift ... is still too expensive! is a card game by Thorsten Gimmler and first appeared in 2004 Amigo. The game in 2005 was, among others, on the recommendation list for "Game of the Year" and won second place in the " à la carte card game price ". 2011 Amigo published a new edition with a revised design under the title bestowed.
Game idea and sequence
One after cards are revealed with different values from the stack, either accommodate a player or - may refuse - against payment of a game chips. All cards count at game end minuses, but they can reduce these players by trying to create rows of cards.
The game material includes:
- 33 playing cards with printed values of 3 to 35
- 55 game tokens
At the start of the game all game cards are shuffled and nine of the cards sorted out without looking, the remaining 24 cards form a draw pile. Each player receives a supply of chips, which he keeps as secret as possible in the next game history before his appearance.
From the stack, the top card is turned face up, respectively. If a player is on the train, he must decide whether he wants to take the map or she refuses. He rejects it, he has to pay a gaming chip from your stock and place next to the card, then the next player 's turn and has the same choice. The game ends when the last card was taken by a player. In the following analysis, the players count their points. Also in 2005, it was nominated for the contracts awarded by the French gaming magazine Tric Trac Price " Tric Trac d' Or", the following year it was on the list of nominations for the French Critics Prize " As d' Or - Jeu de l' Année ".
The reviews of gift ... is still too expensive! scored very positive. The reviewers praised it as a quickly declared, entertaining card game with " high fun - factor and anger ." Some reviewers had the good fortune to share, however high, also the "boring " or " more appropriate " presentation of the cards ( edition of 2004) has been repeatedly criticized.
New edition
Under the title given to Amigo published in 2011 a new edition of the game with a revised graphic design, also the number of players from five formerly was increased to seven. However, scope of game material and rules correspond unchanged which the first edition.
