The McArthur ( ID: S 330) is a former research vessel of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration ( NOAA).

History

The ship was in 1965 at the Shipyard Norfolk Shipbuilding and Drydock ( NORSHIPCO ) in Norfolk, Virginia built. The keel was laid on July 15, the launching on 15 November 1965. The ship was from December 1966 to May 2003 in the U.S. West Coast in use. Initially it was used for hydrographic research, later in the study of marine mammals.

The ship was named for William Pope McArthur, a U.S. naval officer and hydrographer.

The NOAA put the ship on 20 May 2003 out of service. In 2006 it was purchased by Bert rod MaritimeE Yacht & Ship ( Blackwater Worldwide ) and, after it had been converted into a school and deployment vessel, put into service in September 2007. The crew consisted of 45 members, of which 35 armed security forces. On board were two Hughes OH -6 helicopters and there were three - RHIB Rigid Inflatable carried. Blackwater Worldwide McArthur described the 2008 as a multi -purpose vessel for military operations, training, peacekeeping and stabilization operations that can be used worldwide. Since 2008, the ship was provided as escort ship to protect against attacks by pirates off the coast of Somalia and in the Gulf of Aden this was in use.

Beginning of 2010 was offered for sale and renamed Eaton in June 2010 by the new owner Afloat Leasing Limited, the ship of the now trading as Xe Services Company. later sold to the resident in the United Arab Emirates company Danat al Earat Commercial / Infinity Services FZE, which uses the ship as Maandeeq under the flag of Comoros.
