Nõmme is a village (Estonian küla ) in the rural community Ridala ( Ridala vald ) in Lääne in Estonia.

Population and location

The village has 26 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011). It is located six kilometers east of the district capital of Haapsalu.

Cape Pullapää

North of the village dominates the headland Pullapää ( Pullapae German ) in the Baltic Sea into it.

1391 there, the Swedish-speaking village Pullenpe was first mentioned. The area on the Bay of Haapsalu ( Haapsalu Laht ) is now popular among nature tourists. The up to six meters high Klint and the 16 -meter-high hill Klindimägi in a deciduous forest offer a wide view of the sea. To the west stretches the Pinukse Peninsula.

In 1896, a memorial to the late Russian Tsar Alexander III on Pullapää. built. Alexander III. had spent with his family in 1871 and 1880 vacations in the area. The monument was badly damaged in the revolutionary year 1917, but later partially restored.

1939 declared the Red Army the peninsula to the closed zone, where he built a missile base.
