The nun at Neuhof

The nun, also called Nonnenbach, is a river in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. It originates from the Wanzkaer lake at Neuhof in the district Mecklenburg Lake District and flows into the Nonnenhof Tollensee. Its length is only six kilometers. In this short distance it has a gradient of about 41 meters. The Nun is one of the schnellfließendsten rivers in northern Germany. Geology

History

In the past, water mills were operated as described, for example, the nuns mill and the mill Zachower by the waters of Nun. From an iron hammer mill in the 18th century was the most important paper mill of the Duchy of Mecklenburg -Strelitz. The operation of the last mill was set in 1956.
