Nonnweiler

Nonnweiler is the northernmost municipality in Saarland and is located about 30 km southeast of Trier. Its members include the towns of beer box, Braunshausen ( with Mariahütte ), Kastel, Nonnweiler, Otzenhausen, Primstal, Schwarzenbach and Sitzerath to. Nonnweiler is a climatic health resort.

Geography

The municipality is crossed by the prim, which is dammed in the district Nonnweiler to Primstalsperre.

History

The municipal elections on 7 June 2009 was as follows:

  • SPD: 46.8 % ( 2.8 %) - 13 seats ( 1)
  • FWG: 6.8% (-1.9 %) - 2 seats (± 0)
  • FDP: 3.8% ( 2.7 %) - 1 seat ( 1)
  • Left: 4.8% ( 4.8 %) - 1 seat ( 1)
  • Green: 1.8% ( 1.8 % ) - 0 seats

The CDU lost its -won at the 2004 election position as the strongest party in the local council back to the SPD. In the villages of Bernkastel ( -13.3 % ), beer box ( -10.6 %), Braunshausen (-10 %), Primstal (-14 %) and Sitzerath ( -20.5 %) had the CDU suffered the greatest losses, based on the local council. The SPD lost in some places slightly votes, but was in contrast to the CDU, which lost votes in all places, also posted gains, as in Primstal ( 8.9 %), Kastel ( 6.8 %), Braunshausen ( 4.1 %) and Nonnweiler ( 1.7 %).

On 1 July 2007 was elected the new District Administrator for the district of St. Wendel Udo Recktenwald ( CDU). In the community Nonnweiler native of Bernkastel Magnus Jung scored the most votes in his hometown impressive 79.2 %. He received the majority of votes in all places except Sitzerath.

Was strikingly low turnout in the district Nonnweiler with only 39.6 %, here were only 362 of 914 eligible voters to vote. The highest turnout there was in Kastel, at 72.2 %.

Economy and infrastructure

One of the largest manufacturers of frozen pizzas in Europe, the Wagner GmbH, has its headquarters in Nonnweiler and employs about 1,100 people there. In addition, the spa business is a major industry in the town.

Traffic

The community is on the motorways 1 ( Holy harbor - Saarbrücken) connected 52 (44 E) to the national road network and 62 ( Nonnweiler Pirmasens ), as well as the main road. Leisure
