Nora (cat)

Nora (* 2003/2004) is a cat. Video recordings, on which she plays the piano, are among the most successful YouTube videos. According to international press coverage of the cat appeared CDs, DVDs, two books, three wall calendars and other merchandise such as T -shirts, posters and coffee mugs from Nora.

Between the first post 2007 and August 2009, approximately 20 million people viewed their videos. The Lithuanian composer and conductor Mindaugas Piečaitis composed a four-minute concert for them. For the so-called CATcerto she appeared via video link on together with the Klaipeda Chamber Orchestra in the sold-out chamber music hall of the Lithuanian city of Klaipeda. Nora heard the piano teacher Betsy Alexander and Burnell Yow photographer. She lives in Philadelphia, along with five other cats in a house. The two have found the cat in a shelter in New Jersey in 2004. It is named after the painter Leonora Carrington.

The first time Nora's owners noticed their attempts piano when she was about one and a half years alone in the room with the piano and the keys operated. She plays mostly when Alexander student taught at another piano. She is doing both at the same pace as in the same pitch, usually within an octave with the students.
