Nora Gregor

Nora Gregor ( born February 3, 1901 in Gorizia, † 20 January 1949 in Viña del Mar, Chile ) was an Austrian actress.

Life

Nora Gregor received acting lessons in Graz and debuted there in 1918. Initial successes celebrated at the Raimund Theater in Vienna, and later played at the Deutsches Theater in Berlin under Max Reinhardt. At the age of 19, she first appeared in a silent movie. Nora Gregor often embodied aristocratic young ladies as the Duchess Zamikoff where homosexuality film showcasing Michael. In 1929, she came to Hollywood and starred in several American productions. At the same time she was in Los Angeles on stage. In 1933 she returned to Germany and went to Austria in the same year. Until 1937 it belonged to the ensemble of the Burgtheater and was appointed the same year to the chamber Actress.

Since December 2, 1937 Nora Gregor was married to Home Guard leader Ernst Rüdiger Starhemberg. She emigrated with him via Switzerland to France. There they played under the direction of Jean Renoir in his film The rule of the game, the Comtesse de la Chesnais Christine. During the war, she fled to Argentina and Chile, where she committed suicide after the divorce from Starhemberk and a final film.
