Norbert Eschmann

Norbert Eschmann ( born September 19, 1933, Besançon, † 13 May, 2009 Lausanne) was a Swiss football player. He was one of the big players in Lausanne Sports.

Clubs

Norbert Eschmann was an outrunner, the " combined elegance and game intelligence ", but also " experienced many dark hours" was his sporting performances.

In its third phase, players in Lausanne, 1963-1965, the trained Bijoutier 1963/64, won on 30 March 1964 after a 2-0 win against FC La Chaux -de-Fonds Swiss Cup - Eschmann scored the 1-0 lead - and 1964/65 he won with his team Young Boys Bern the championship. He had, however, lost in 1957 with 1:3 goals against Chaux -de-Fonds His first cup final.

Eschmann also played six years in the French professional football. In the 1954/55 season, he rose with Red Star sporty from the second to the highest division on; since this rise was subsequently canceled due to match-fixing, he left the club. The season 1958/59, this time at Olympique Marseille, ended with the descent of the South of France; Eschmann had come in 34 -point games for use and had five goals scored. He remained Olympique also there for another year faithful (32 games with eight goals in the Division 2 ), before he moved to the much missed resurgence for capital club Stade Français. In this club, he brought it in the next three years to 95 Erstligaeinsätze and shot in 31 goals. In his first season, he finished with 15 goals number 10 in the scoring charts. In the vicinity of the league title, however, he did not come here; a 10th place in the standings at the end of the 1961/62 season was his best finish with Stade Français. It was with André Lerond, Raymond Bellot, Philippe Gondet, Georges Carnus and Charly Loubet quite a number of well-known players in his team. Also in the cup competition Norbert Eschmann has never survived the second round during his six years in France.

National

Already at the Football World Cup in 1954 in his own country the offensive talent belonged in the tournament squad of Confederates. But he did not get to use during the World Cup. His debut in the "Nati " he had but on September 15, 1956, was lost with 2:3 in the Stade Olympique gates de la Pontaise the match against Holland. In 1961 he was active in the two World Cup qualifiers against Sweden in Bern and Berlin. On October 29, he achieved his 3-2 winning goal in the second leg, thus forcing the playoff. This decided the Swiss on 12 November 2-1 in and were qualified for the 1962 World Cup in Chile. Coach Karl Rappan sat in the first group match in Santiago against the organizer Chile Eschmann - the game was lost with 1:3 - and also trusted on June 3 in the second group match against the team of Sepp Herberger to the players of Stade Français. But already in the 12th minute he suffered in a challenge with Horst Szymaniak a broken leg and was eliminated in the mid-term. With his 15th international match on October 4, 1964 in Bern against Hungary ended the career of Norbert Eschmann in the Swiss national team.
