Nordhausen-Wernigerode Railway Company

The Nordhausen - Wernigerode Railway Company ( NWE ) was the second founded in the Harz railway companies after Gernroder - Harzgerode railroad.

History

On 15 June 1896, the NWE was established by the United Railway and operating company in Berlin, they also carried out the operation. By 1896, the first section of the narrow-gauge Harz Railway and 1898 narrow gauge also Brocken Railway was opened. On April 1, 1908, the NWE took over the management of the United Railway and operating company.

In Eisfelder Talmuhle transition to Gernrode - Harzgerode Railway Company (GHE ) and the station was concern transition to South Harz Railway Company (SHE). The railway stations in Nordhausen and Wernigerode was following the standard gauge trains of the Prussian state railways, and later German Reichsbahn. The resin cross and Selketalbahn were operated from 1949 by the German Reichsbahn. Since 1993, the Harz narrow gauge railways GmbH is the owner and operator of the resin cross, chunk and Selketalbahn.
