Norman Blackwell, Baron Blackwell

Norman Roy Blackwell, Baron Blackwell ( born July 29, 1952) is a British politician of the Conservative Party and businessman.

Biography

Blackwell, son of Albert and Frances Blackwell, the first attended Latymer Upper School in Hammersmith and then the Royal Academy of Music in London. Blackwell graduated in 1973 from Trinity College, University of Cambridge with a Master of Arts degree in natural sciences. He then attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he in 1975 the Master of Business Administration reached in 1976 with a Ph.D. completed.

Norman Blackwell was a consultant of McKinsey & Company 1978-1994 After he had already been 1986-1987 Consultant, in 1995 he became head of the Prime Minister's Policy Unit in 10 Downing Street.; he held until 1997 this position. From 2000 to 2003 he was director of the Dixons Group and was subsequently director of Standard Life. He is currently Chairman of Interserve Plc and of the Centre for Policy Studies.

On 2 August 1997 he was appointed Life peer as Baron Blackwell of Woodcote in the County of Surrey.

Family

He married 1974 Brenda Clucas. They have three sons and two daughters: Jane, Simon, Sarah, Richard and William Blackwell.
