Norman von Nida

Norman Nida ( born February 14, 1914 in Strathfield, Australia, † 20 May, 2007 Gold Coast, Queensland) was an Australian golfer.

Life

Norman Nida was born on February 14, 1914 as one of seven children in the Australian Strathfield. A few years after his birth he moved with his family to Brisbane where he grew up. At fourteen, he began to play golf. When he in 1932 with just 18 years, the Queensland Amateur Open won, it was a year later professional golfer. Von Nida became one of the most successful Australian golfer and the first Australian to win the British Golf Tour.

Career

During the Second World War, he took part in any golf tournament more; again until 1946, when he ever traveled for the first time to the UK. The Order of Merit he could finish as runner-up. A year later he returned and this time won seven tournaments in a year. The Australian PGA Tour has been named after him as Von Nida Tour.
