Norrköping Dolphins

Norrkoping Dolphins is a Swedish basketball club based in Norrköping.

History

The club was founded in 1963 as Hageby Basket. In 1980 Hageby was Swedish champion.

Meanwhile renamed in Norrkoping Dolphins, 1998, the second championship was won. After they finished the regular season in a regular place in the top four, did not make it into the play-offs but the final. In the 2003 /04 season, boosted the team and failed only in the finale to LF Basket Norrbotten, a team against which one had more close duels. After a few streaky years the Dolphins in 2010 retaliated against Norrbotten and won their third championship.

Also in 2010, won by the Dolphins as the only non - Baltic Association Challenge Cup of the Baltic Basketball League. The first leg of the finals, where KK Prienai from Lithuania was opponents, they lost 77:87. A high 107:72 victory in the second leg, the team secured the title.

After this successful year in the club's history they succeeded in 2011 in the final of the Swedish championship. This time, the team defeated the Sundsvall Dragons. In the 2011/12 season the Dolphins were already in the main round of the dominant team reached the play-offs in the final and won the final series against Södertälje Kings 4-2.

In the recent past, the club participated regularly in the Euro Challenge. In the seasons 2010/11 and 2012/13 there was one each in the top 16 clubs.
