Norseman triathlon

The Norseman Xtreme Triathlon is a triathlon competition in Norway. The competition is organized annually since 2003 and is regarded as the toughest Ironman competition in the world.

Organization

The race starts from a ferry with 3.8 -kilometer swim through the Hardangerfjord to Eidfjord, followed by 180 km cycling on Hardangervidda from Eidfjord, Geilo to Austbygde on Tinnsjå lake. In conclusion, then the marathon over the length of 42.2 km to the top of the mountain Gaustatoppen moh with a height of 1883. Specific challenges are especially swimming in the rarely above 15 ° C cold Hardangerfjord and the final climb over boulders up to Gaustatoppen. The course record is 10:23:43 hours by the Norwegian Henrik Oftedal for men and 12:17:04 hours by the German Annett finger at the women. Both records were set in 2012.

The number of participants is limited to 250. Since 2010, the starting positions are no longer issued after the registration speed, but the organizers will award quotas. For the tenth anniversary of 2012, two triathlons were held. On August 4, started 250 participants, on August 5, then launched the elite, also in a 250 participants.
