Northeastern Region (Iceland)

Norðurland eystra ( German East of North Country ) is one of the eight regions of Iceland. It lies in the north of the country. My office is located in Akureyri. 2009 lived 29,081 inhabitants in an area of 22,695 km ² ( population density 1,281 inh. / Km ²).

As part of the municipal mergers of 2006, the city came Siglufjörður ( by incorporation to Fjallabyggð ) and the community Skeggjastaðir added ( by incorporation to Langanesbyggð ) characterized the region won again vigorously to residents.
