Northern Vermont Railroad

The Northern Vermont Railroad (NVR ) was a railway company in Vermont ( United States) and Quebec ( Canada). It existed from 28 September 1996 to 31 December 2002., The company assumed by the Canadian Pacific Railway, the railway line from Wells River on Newport, where the headquarters of the company was, according to Richford and the Canadian border. For the operation filed a EMD GP35, which was purchased by the Southern Pacific Railroad.

After the bankruptcy of the operating company Iron Road Railways end of 2002, the NVR operating. The Washington County Railroad took over the route to Newport and resumed the enterprise. The section from Newport to the border took over the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway.
