Richford is a town in the state of Vermont in the United States. It is located in the northeast of Franklin County near the Canadian border in the northern foothills of the Green Mountains and is drained by the Missisquoi River, which enters here from Canada.

The town was founded in 1780 along with five other locations in the area in order to generate money for the Vermont Army. For this, the country was divided into plots and sold to settlers. The history of the place was very quiet.

The 2,308 inhabitants ( according to the census of 2010) make their money primarily in the agriculture and forestry as well as various small scale enterprises; Large-scale industry is not located in Richford. Since the 1970s the city tried with some success, to be a tourist recreation center. For this particular were different trails that cover all four seasons for tourism and to some extent lead across the state border, decorated. Also, white water rafting and canoeing on the Missisquoi River were established.

In the city four parishes are established: the Baptists, the Episcopal Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Methodists.

Richford is home to an elementary and a high school.

Nearby places are Enosburgh in the Southwest (about 15 miles), Montgomery in the east ( 15 km), Jay in neighboring Orleans County ( both 15 km) and Berkshire, which lies about 10 kilometers to the west. To the north, beyond the Canadian border, is found with Sutton the nearest major town.
