Norvel Lee

Norvel Lee ( born September 22, 1924 in Eagle Rock (Virginia ); † August 19, 1992 in Bethesda (Maryland) ) was an American boxer. Lee was Olympic champion in 1952 and bronze medalist at the Pan American Games in 1951 and 1955.

Career

Lee was American heavyweight champion ( 80 kg ) in the years 1950 and 1951.

In 1948, Lee was unable to qualify for the Olympic Games, as he lost at the U.S. Trials against Elbert Jay Lambert. At the Pan American Games in 1951 Lee won the bronze medal as he semi-final against Victor Bignon, Chile, lost.

At the 1952 Olympics Lee reached after beating Claude Arnaiz, France ( 3-0), Tadeusz Grzelak, Poland ( 3-0), and Harri Siljander, Finland ( 3-0), the final, which he, against Antonio Pacenza Argentina ( 3-0), and thus won Olympic champion.

In 1955 Lee again at the Pan American Games in part and won again the bronze medal.
