Norwegian Association for Women's Rights

Norsk Kvinnesaksforening ( NKF; German: Norwegian Women's Rights Association ) is a Norwegian women's rights organization.

History

It was founded in 1884 by 171 figures, including several Norwegian Prime Minister. The initiators were Gina Krog and Hagbard Berner. She was originally a union of the bourgeois women's movement and unofficially connected with the Liberal Party.

Today, it is a non-partisan women's rights organization, with different parties are represented in the committees. The NKF is a member of the International Alliance of Women. The President is Torild Skard, former Storting representatives and international president of UNICEF. Former presidents are, inter alia, Eva Kolstad and Karin Maria Bruzelius.
