Norwegian County Road 17

The coastal road Fv17 ( Fylkesvei 17) runs close between Steinkjer and Bodø or directly to the Norwegian Atlantic coast. The road passes through the landscapes Namdalen, Helgeland and Salten. Numerous tunnels and six ferries are needed to overcome 650 km. The Arctic Circle is thereby crossed on the ferry Kilboghamn - Jektvik. The Fv17 is an alternative to the E6 on the way north to the Lofoten or the North Cape, owing to its scenic beauty but also a destination in itself. The Fv17 is entirely paved, developed as a tourist road and also suitable for bicycles. The locked for bicycles Svartisentunnel can be bypassed with a seventh ferry.

Until December 31, 2009 was the official name Rv17. The term Coastal Highway, the neighboring communities have joined together to market themselves together better. Thus, inter alia, of Coastal Highway each year a free " Guidebook " published in which tourists can find many references to sites, but also information about Fährplänen and opening times.
