Norwegian Women's Cup

The Norwegian Football Cup of women ( in Norwegian called Norge Mestere Cup, in short: NM Cup ) is the cup competition for club teams in the Norwegian women's football. The competition has been held since 1978. Record winner is Trondheim -Ørn SK and Stabæk FK with eight victories. Acting Cup winner is Stabæk FK.

History

In the first final match in 1978 was offset by the teams of IL i BUL and Trondheim -Ørn SK. To this day, it was the only final that was decided on penalties. BUL won five of the first six contests. In the eighties, dominated Sprint / Jeløy SK competition and won four consecutive Cup winners. In the nineties, Trondheim -Ørn SK repeated this feat. 2003 saw the biggest Cup sensation when the second division Medkila IL the runner Kolbotn IL beat 2-1.

The final took place in Oslo until 2005 at Ullevaal Stadium. In contrast to the DFB Cup, the women's final Men's final will take place on Saturday evening, held on Sunday evening. Since 2006, the the women's final will be held at Bislett Stadium, as the Norwegian Association was of the opinion that the lawn at Ullevaal Stadium is overused. This decision was very controversial. The semi-finalists threatened with a boycott if the decision is not reversed. Finally, the associations gave then to yet.

The 2006 final

In the final, the first division and the second division champions Røa IL Asker SK stood against. Røa was the clear favorite to the finals and won 3-2. For Røa met twice Lena Mykjøland and Kristine Edner during Asker Lisa -Marie Woods and Leni Larsen Kaurin were successful. For Røa IL it was the second Cup win after 2004. Endgame tracked 8,900 spectators in the stadium and about 300,000 viewers on television.
